KS3 Art

Year 7

Students develop their artistic language, analysing key artists and begin to express their own thoughts using new keywords. They learn about the formal elements with an emphasis on colour, developing painting techniques along with other mediums. The final outcome is assessed and students should demonstrate a clear understanding of the process to create a still life painting using appropriate tones, proportion, perspective and shade.

Year 8

The theme for this year is the environment. Students continue to develop their artistic language further and deepen their ability to analyse artwork and express their views using key artistic language. Students will make a sculpture as a final outcome in this project which will be linked to their theme. They will show an understanding of how proportion effects outcome when enlarging, and how the environment has been used by artists to promote change within contemporary art.
