Supporting Our Community: SMA Partners with Lewisham Foodbank

St Matthew Academy was pleased to welcome Sarah, a representative from Lewisham Foodbank, to speak at a special joint assembly for our Primary pupils and Light Bearers from both our Primary and Secondary phases.

Understanding the Journey of Giving

Sarah gave students an insightful look into the journey of a food donation, from the moment an item is given, to its distribution to individuals and families facing difficult times right here in our local area.

She shared how the demand for foodbank support across Lewisham has increased significantly over recent years, emphasizing why the charity's work and our community's support, is more vital than ever.

The assembly was an eye-opening opportunity for our young people to reflect on local challenges and see how collective action and kindness can make a real, tangible difference.

October Food Drive: How You Can Help

To put our values into action, St Matthew Academy will be running a school-wide donation drive for Lewisham Foodbank throughout the month of October.

We invite all our SMA families to join us in collecting non-perishable food items and essential toiletries. Together, we can help ensure that no family in our local community goes without.

We are immensely proud of our pupils for their empathy and look forward to seeing our community come together to support those in need.
